How to Make a Bubbling Witch’s Cauldron Decoration
NOTE: Cauldrons come in many different sizes. This DIY project can be customized to any size cauldron, from small to large. Just choose styrofoam balls that match the size of the cauldron.
Supplies
- White and Silver Small Styrofoam Balls (we bought ours at the dollar store)
- Purple and Green Acrylic Paint
- 2 Zip-Top Plastic Baggies
- Wax Paper
- Tray or Cooking Sheet
- Mini Cauldron (usually found at dollar stores or Walmart around Halloween)
- Paper Plate or Cardboard
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun

Directions
Divide the white styrofoam balls into two baggies. Add purple paint to one bag and green paint to the other bag. Squeeze the paint throughout the bag until all of the styrofoam balls are covered.

Put the painted balls onto a wax paper-lined tray. Allow them to dry.

Trace the bottom of the mini cauldron on a paper plate or piece of cardboard. Cut the circle out.

Place the circle into the top opening of the cauldron. You may need to insert the circle and position it underneath the lip of the cauldron, depending on the type of mini cauldron that you have.

If you add a small slit on the edge of the circle it allows the piece to be placed more easily into the cauldron because you can bend the circle.

Add hot glue to each color styrofoam ball, doing one at a time and alternating colors, and attach the balls to the paper plate inside the cauldron. Hold each ball in place for a few seconds to allow the hot glue to set.

Keep stacking the styrofoam balls on top of each other and going down the side of the cauldron like it is bubbling over.
