DIY Valentine Gnomes
Supplies
- Free Valentine Gnome Couple Patterns
- Colored craft papers
- Empty cardboard tube or toilet paper roll
- Craft glue
- Very small piece of cardboard
- Pencil
- Black and Red Sharpies or Markers
- Scissors
You can use the same craft papers to also make these Valentine Gnome bookmarks, too!
Directions
Step 1
Download and print out the free Valentine gnome patterns. Cut out the patterns and trace on colored craft papers.
The toilet paper gnome templates include patterns for both the boy and the girl gnome, including:
- Head
- Hat
- Beard
- Mustache
- Braids
- Nose
- Collar
- Hearts
In this tutorial we will make the girl gnome.
Step 2
Glue the hat cutout on top of the head cutout. Do not glue the edges down yet.
In the final version of this gnome couple, I have hearts drawn on the girl’s hat. If you would like to draw hearts on her hat, do that now.
Step 3
Glue the braid cutouts on either side of the head, tucking the paper just underneath the edge of the hat.
Step 4
Glue a small piece of cardboard on the back of the nose cutout to give the gnome a dimensional look.
Glue the nose in the middle of the head.
Step 5
Cut a 2 inch piece off of an empty toilet paper roll.
Cover the roll with colored craft paper.
Step 6
Glue the collar cutout along the top of the paper covered roll. Then glue the small heart cutouts below the collar.
Step 7
Use a sharpie or marker to draw the eyes of the girl gnome. Then glue the head to the front top of the tube, above the collar part.
Step 8
For the boy gnome, you will assemble the pieces in a similar manner. Glue the hat on top of the head, leaving the edges un-glued so that you can tuck in the top edge of the beard underneath the hat pattern.
Glue a small piece of cardboard on the back of the nose pattern. Glue the mustache pattern to the top center of the beard, then glue the nose on top of the mustache.
Cut a 2-inch piece of cardboard tube and wrap it in craft paper. Glue a belt around the tube, and then glue a small heart in the middle of the belt.
Draw eyes on the boy gnome face, then glue to the top front of the toilet paper tube.
