Want a fun July 4th craft that’s fun to make? Our Wooden Spoon Bald Eagle turns a kitchen gadget into a cute patriotic decoration.
All of the supplies came from the Dollar Tree. Which makes this a very inexpensive project for anyone to make!
For kids, this is a great Bald Eagle puppet that can be used for imaginative play and homeschool learning activities designed around the Fourth of July, America’s Independence, Patriotism and U.S. History.

For adults, this Bald Eagle craft is cute displayed on a shelf or tucked into a potted plant. These are great patriotic decorations for a Fourth of July party or picnic.

DIY Wooden Spoon Bald Eagle Craft
Materials
- Free Wooden Spoon Bald Eagle Pattern
- Wooden Spoon
- Acrylic Craft Paint (White, Brown and Pink)
- Wiggle Eyes
- Black Marker
- Craft Foam (Brown and Yellow)
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks or Craft Glue
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Instructions
Step 1
Download and print the bald eagle wooden spoon pattern.
Using the pattern as your guide, paint the top third of the wooden spoon with white acrylic craft paint. Create a scallop edge on the bottom of the white paint.
Let dry and apply a second coat, if needed.
Step 2
Paint the bottom two-thirds of the wooden spoon with brown acrylic craft paint.
Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Step 3
Cut out the patterns.
With a pencil, trace the beak patten onto yellow craft foam, and cut out with scissors.
Glue two wiggle eyes and the beak to the eagle’s face. Add two dots to the top center of the beak with a black marker.
To create cheeks on the bald eagle, dip a new pencil eraser in pink acrylic craft paint and dot to the left and right, just underneath of the wiggle eyes.
Alternatively, you can use a paintbrush to paint two small dots as cheeks.
Step 4
Trace the eagle’s wing and tail feather patterns onto brown craft foam. Cut out the patterns.
Step 5
Trace the eagle’s claws onto yellow craft foam. Cut out.
Glue to the bottom of the wooden spoon.
Step 6
Glue the tail feathers to the wing feathers.
Then glue the wing and tail feathers to the back of the wooden spoon, as seen in the photo below.
