DIY Makeup Brush Holder Ideas (3 Ways)

No one likes to have to rummage around in a makeup bag or a drawer to find their makeup brushes. Not only is it frustrating, but it’s hard to keep brushes clean when they are stored that way.

These cute DIY makeup brush holders are easy to make and look pretty on your bathroom counter. These cosmetic brush organizers will save you time each morning, and prolong the life of your makeup tools.

I’ve got three different designs for how to make a makeup brush holder. Be sure to see them both below!

DIY Mason Jar Makeup Brush Holder

This farmhouse makeup brush holder looks perfect on your countertop. The chicken wire keeps each brush separated, allowing them to stay dry and look pretty while displayed. This holder is also perfect for drying your brushes after cleaning.

Chicken wire for crafts is easy to find. If you already have a mason jar and some paint, this is a super simple organizer to make. Our free “Neat and Pretty” SVG file can be downloaded on the Single Girls DIY resource library.

Supplies

Directions

Step 1

Paint the jar with the chalk paint and allow to dry completely. (I have more tips for how to chalk paint mason jars.)

Step 2

Cut a piece of chicken wire to fit over the top of the jar. Bend the ends of the wire over the edge of the jar.

Now place the lid ring on top. Carefully screw the ring down.

Step 3

Upload the SVG file into Design Space and select all the letters. Resize the design to fit on your jar, if needed. Weld the letters together.

Step 4

Set the Cricut to cut vinyl, then place the black vinyl on your cutting mat and load it into the machine.

Cut the vinyl with the Cricut. When the design is finished cutting, remove the excess vinyl and place a piece of transfer tape over the top.

Step 5

Transfer the vinyl to the front of the jar.

Boho Wicker Vase

If you like a boho look in your bathroom or on your makeup table, then this easy DIY project is perfect for you! And it only costs $2!

You will be able to store a lot of brushes in this fishbowl vase that is covered with a straw hat. Yep, a hat!

Upcycled Tin Can Makeup Brush Holder

This inexpensive makeup brush holder can be made right now! You probably already have all the materials you need at home. If you don’t, you can easily find them at the Dollar Tree!

Supplies

Directions

Step 1

Apply gorilla glue around the bottom of the can. Apply the twine at the bottom, pressing firmly into the glue.

Wrap the twine around the can, applying glue in the areas where you will soon wrap the twine. Continue wrapping the twine all of the way up the can.

Once the tin can is completely covered, cut the twine and press into a dab of glue to secure it.

Step 2

Add a little glue to the middle of the can over the twine. Press one end of the lace trim into the glue.

Wrap the lace around the can and cut where it meets the other end of the lace, allowing for a little bit of overlap to hide the seam. Secure the end with a dab of glue.
