Cactus Coaster Crochet Pattern
Supplies
- Yarn (I used green, white and pink)
- Crochet hook – 3.5 mm
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Directions
Step 1
Select a color for the coaster and hold the open end of the yarn bundle without cutting it from the bundle.
Start your crochet with a magic ring. Make a loop at the open end of the bundle and insert the hook through the loop.

Yarn over and pull through the loop. Keep the short, open end secured.

Chain one on hook to secure the magic ring. We will count this as the first SC (single crochet) of this round.

Start round 1 with a single crochet stitch through the magic ring.

Work 11 or 12 more (a total of 12 or 13) single crochet through the magic ring.

Continue to work 2 single crochet into each chain stitch of the previous round.

Secure the round with a slip stitch.

You can work another round or 2 if you want a bigger coaster or you can finish the coaster in round 3. Work a slip knot, keep 2 inches extra yarn and cut off yarn from bundle.

Use a tapestry needle to secure the open end over and under the crochet pattern on the backside.
Select a yarn to stitch the spike patterns on the crochet cactus pattern.

You can use a tapestry needle or a crochet hook to stitch the spike patterns on the crochet coaster pattern.

Start the next petal with a slip stitch through the next chain. Repeat 1 sc, 1 dc, 1sc and 1 slip stitch to make the 2nd petal.
Pull out the yarn by a few inches after completing all 6 petals.
