Our fun snowman vase can be made with Dollar Tree supplies or thrift store finds for a fun winter craft. This winter vase is a perfect DIY project for tweens, teens and adults after the holidays.
Use our free pattern to make this vase to decorate your home for Christmas and wintertime.
It seems that everyone has a bud vase or two at home that is not being used. You can recycle that glass vase into a cute snowman vase. Or, if you don’t have a vase at home, you can buy one at a dollar store.
This is a perfect gift for:
- Teachers
- Neighbors
- Hostess gift
- Housewarming gift
To make this an extra nice gift, add some fresh flowers in the vase or add some candy canes sticking out on top.
DIY Snowman Vase for Winter
Most of the supplies were purchased at the Dollar Tree.
Supplies
- Snowman Vase Pattern
- Glass Bud Vase (If you don’t have one already, get one from a thrift store or a dollar store)
- Multi-Surface Acrylic Craft Paint (White and Black)
- Craft Felt (Black and Orange)
- Wooden Snowflake
- Peel and Stick Rhinestones (Clear and Black)
- Blue and White Gingham Ribbon
- Small Black Buttons
- Paintbrush
- Glue Gun or Craft Glue
- White Pencil or Chalk (optional)
Directions
Step 1
Paint the bottom half of the glass vase with white multi-surface acrylic craft paint.
Let dry and apply a second coat, if needed.
Step 2
Download, print, and cut out our Snowman Vase pattern.
Trace the hat brim pattern onto black craft felt. This is best done with a white pencil or chalk so that you can see the lines.
Cut out with scissors.
Push the hat pattern down on top of the neck of the vase. Draw a line around the vase at the top of the hat. Then remove the felt hat brim.
Step 3
Paint the top of the vase with black multi-surface acrylic craft paint from the pencil line to the top edge.
Let dry and apply a second coat, if needed.
Step 4
Carefully put the black felt hat brim onto the vase, pushing it down to its original position where the white and black paints meet.
Secure the hat brim to the vase with glue.
Step 5
Wrap the blue and white gingham ribbon around the base of the Snowman’s hat, on top of the felt brim, and attach with glue.
Tie another piece of the gingham ribbon into a loose knot. Then trim the ends by cutting out a notch on each end with scissors.
Glue the knot to the hat band.
Step 6
For the carrot nose, cut a triangle from orange craft felt.
Glue two big black buttons to the front of the vase to be eyes, and then glue on the felt carrot nose underneath the eyes for the snowman face.
Attach six self-adhesive black rhinestones to create the snowman’s mouth.
Step 7
Paint a wooden snowflake with white acrylic craft paint. Allow to dry completely.
Add clear self-adhesive rhinestones to the tips of the snowflake and in the center.
Glue the snowflake to the snowman’s hat above the hat brim.
