DIY Snowman Glasses

These easy Snowman Sunglasses are a fun Dollar Tree DIY that can be made in an hour or less.

You can use either sunglasses or regular glasses to make this winter craft. Whether you have glasses with thick frames or wire rims, any pair of eye glasses will work for this snowman craft.

A crafted snowman made of painted blocks, featuring a carrot nose, button eyes, a blue scarf, blue earmuffs, and black buttons, is placed in front of a potted plant and a decorative snowflake.

While we purchased new glasses at a dollar store, this would be a great memory craft, too.

Decorate an old pair of glasses from a loved one and make a snowman that you can display in the winter or on a Christmas tree.

A ceramic snowman with blue earmuffs and a scarf stands beside a potted plant and two decorative white snowflakes on a white background.

Some of the same supplies are used to make our melting snowman craft, Boho-inspired rope snowman, and gift box snowmen trio, too. You can easily get all materials at once for a snowman crafting afternoon!

How to Make Snowman Glasses

We bought most of these supplies at the Dollar Tree.

Supplies

  • Glasses or Sunglasses
  • 2 Pom Poms
  • 2 Black Buttons
  • Chenille Stem
  • Plaid Fabric (approximately 2″ X 8″)
  • Orange Craft Felt (craft foam would also work)
  • Acrylic Craft Paint (White, Black, Pink)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
Craft supplies including paint, sunglasses, black buttons, scissors, plaid fabric, and a hot glue gun are arranged on a wooden surface.

Directions

Step 1

Paint the lenses of the glasses with white acrylic craft paint. Allow the paint to dry.

A pair of eyeglass frames partially painted white are on a wooden surface next to a bottle of white acrylic paint and a paintbrush.

Paint a second and third coat of the white craft paint to completely cover the lenses. Let dry between coats.

A pair of eyeglasses with white paint on the lenses sits next to an open bottle of DecoArt Americana acrylic paint and a paintbrush on a wooden surface.

Step 2

Cut out a carrot shape from the orange craft felt.

Orange-handled scissors on a wooden surface with an orange felt square and a cut-out triangle piece.

Step 3

Glue the carrot nose to the middle of one of the lenses.

Add two eyes and a mouth with the black acrylic craft paint using small circles.

Using the pink acrylic paint, add one round cheek blush circle next to the orange carrot nose.

Allow to dry.

Paint bottles, a hot glue gun, and a painted eyeglass case resembling a snowman with a carrot nose on a wooden surface.

After the black eyes have dried, go back in and add a white highlight to each eye at the top of the black circle.

Sunglasses with a snowman face design, including orange felt nose, black eyes and mouth, on a wooden surface with a black pen and paint lid nearby.

Step 4

Cut two fabric strips that are 1 inch X 8 inches long. If you would like a frayed edge on the fabric scarf, you will need to tear the fabric into strips.

Orange scissors on a wooden surface next to blue plaid fabric pieces, some cut into strips.

Tie the fabric around the snowman’s neck and secure with a drop of hot glue.

Step 5

Cut a 6” length of chenille stem and hot glue to both sides of the snowman’s head on the sides of the sunglasses frame.

Glue a pom pom to the right and left sides of the snowman’s head and cover the bottom edge of the chenille stem.

Craft materials and tools on a table: a snowman decoration with a blue scarf, buttons, and an orange felt nose, surrounded by scissors, blue pompoms, and a glue gun.

Then glue 2 small black buttons to the middle of the snowman’s body, which is the other sunglass lens.

A snowman made from black and white containers, with a felt carrot nose, blue earmuffs, a blue plaid scarf, and two black buttons, is displayed on a wooden surface.

How does it stand upright?

Kimberly

You would need to put it on a stand or glue it to a stand to have it stand upright. I have it propped up in front of a plant. You could also tie a string around one of the arms to hang it.
