A printable recipe card can be found at the bottom of this article.
Makes 18 spider webs.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
- 4 cups pretzel sticks
- ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles
Directions
Step 1
Prep your work area by laying out a few strips of parchment paper.
Put the dark chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds at a time. Stir well between heating increments until smooth, but do not overcook!
Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag or a plastic zip top bag with a small hole cut in the end.
Step 2
To make the candy spiders, pipe a small dot about the size of a dime of chocolate on the parchment paper. Then add four legs on both sides of the dot.
Allow the chocolate spiders to harden by placing in the fridge or freezer to set up quickly. If you have more time, you can leave them on your work surface until hardened.
Step 3
Once the spiders are set, you can create the spider webs.
First, remove the dark chocolate spiders from the parchment paper so that they are ready to assemble when the white chocolate is wet.
Be careful when peeling them off of the parchment paper so that the legs do not break off. If any legs break, you can patch them with a bit of heated dark chocolate chips to repair.
Lay out 8-10 pretzel sticks in a circle, with the points all meeting in the center.
Step 4
Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds at a time. Stir well between heating increments until smooth, but do not overcook!
Transfer the melted white chocolate to a piping bag or a plastic zip top bag with a small hole cut in the end.
Step 5
Pipe a large circle of white chocolate on top of the center of each pretzel ring to keep them all connected.
Then pipe large, thin circles of white chocolate around the pretzels in a circle until it resembles a web.
Keep the white chocolate drizzle lines somewhat thick because if they are too thin, they are easier to break.
Step 6
While the chocolate is still wet, top with a chocolate spider and a few sprinkles for some color.
Repeat this process with all of the pretzels and chocolate.
If your chocolate starts to harden while you are still using it, you can put remove the chocolate from the piping bag, put it in a microwave safe bowl, and heat it for 10-15 seconds to warm it up again and make it a thinner consistency.
Step 7
Allow the pretzel spider webs to set at room temperature for about 10-20 minutes or until the white chocolate has hardened.
Placing them in the refrigerator or freezer is an option to speed up the hardening process.
Helpful Tips
- We recommend piping bags for this to make clean up easy and more precise designs, however, a plastic zip top bag will work, as well.
- Any type of sprinkles will work! You can make them colorful or spooky. Or use colored edible glitter. Bonus points for using a sprinkle mix with spiders in it!
