These purple-colored Jello shots are an easy party-friendly alcoholic shot that will be a crowd favorite! The sweet and tart flavor is perfect year round.

Purple Hooter is a popular cocktail drink, but we made it into a crowd-friendly Jello shot that can be made ahead of time.
The fun purple color is perfect for a purple-themed party or serve them up at Halloween, because somehow purple drinks, like our Purple People Eater cocktail, just make sense for the holiday, am I right?

Ingredients
There are not a lot of ingredients in these Purple Hooter shots, but each one is important and there’s not a good substitute for any of them.
- Grape Jell-O It is what gives the purple color and part of the sweet tart taste.
- Berry Vodka The berry flavor is important to the sweet and tart flavor. If you only have normal vodka, you can reduce the amount a little and add some berry-flavored liquer to get to the 2/3 cup that you will need.
- Lime Juice This is what gives the tart taste. I wouldn’t suggest lemon juice as a substitute.
- Whipped Topping and Colored Sugar These aren’t necessary but they sure do make these alcohol shots look so much more tempting and party-ready!
- Plastic Shot Cups These plastic cups with lids are really inexpensive. You will have plenty leftover to make other types of alcoholic shot recipes!

Purple Hooter Jello Shots
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Add the Jell-o mix and the boiling water into a medium mixing bowl. Stir until the Jell-o is fully dissolved – you don’t want any lumps!
- Add in the vodka and lime juice and stir together.
- Place the shot cups on a flat surface that you can move later, such as a baking sheet or large plate.
- Pour the liquid mixture into each cup, filling almost up to the top. Leave room at the top so that the mixture doesn't overflow when you move them.
- Move to the refrigerator and chill for 2 hours or until set before serving.
- If desired, add a little bit of whipped topping to the top of each Jello shot, then top with purple sanding sugar.

Notes
- You can make these in advance and store them, with the caps on, in the fridge, for up to 4 days before serving. However, do not add the garnish until immediately upon serving.
- Do not freeze!
- The berry flavored vodka is important for the sweet and sour taste. If you must use a regular vodka, reduce the amount slightly and replace with a berry-flavored liquer to reach the same amount of alcohol in the recipe.
- For thinner Jello shots, you can add more alcohol. For a more firm consistency, reduce the alcohol just a little bit and replace it with water.
