What can you expect when you eat this viral frozen gummy bears recipe for the first time? The candies will be a cold, soft crunch. Similar to a normal gummy bear texture but with a crisp, frozen texture that starts to melt in your mouth as you chew!

Not only are these candies unusual, they are also MUCH bigger than regular gummy bears, which makes them a fun treat!

How to Make Frozen Gummy Bears

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Chill Time: 8 Hours
Freeze Time: 3 Hours
Yields: About 95 Gummy Bears

Ingredients

  • 8 Ounces Regular Gummy Bears (I used Haribo Gold Bears)
  • 16.9 Ounces Sprite (one bottle from a six pack)

Directions

Place the gummy bears into a medium mixing bowl and pour the Sprite over the top.

I have seen other people lay the gummy bears in a flat pan without the candies touching. I didn’t feel that was necessary, but you may want to use a baking pan rather than a bowl and that’s okay.

Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.

Line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.

Gently scoop the gummy bears out and lightly shake them over the bowl to get rid of the excess liquid. A slotted spoon can be used for this step, however we put on rubber gloves and scooped out the bears by hand.

At this point, the bears are a little more fragile and can break easily, so be gentle and careful when removing from the Sprite mixture.

Place the bears on the pan and line them up so they have just a little bit of space in between each one. As long as they are not touching, that works.

Place in the freezer for 3 hours or until frozen through.

Keep in the freezer in a covered, airtight container for up to 1 week. Be careful to not let them melt much outside the freezer before putting them up or they will freeze together.

Helpful Tips

Any type of soda will work with the recipe, however Sprite and 7-Up are the best choices because they are clear and will allow the colors of the gummy bears to stay the same.

This method can be used for other types of gummy candies, too, such as peach rings or gummy fish.

Use the regular gummy bears because they soak and freeze better. Other types of gummy bears such as sour, etc. didn’t turn out well. Haribo was the best brand due to their harder style gummy bears.
