Our easy strawberries and cream scones are the perfect combination of fresh fruit and heavy cream. These homemade scones can be made in 30 minutes or less for a quick breakfast or a delicious snack.
This easy baking recipe does not use buttermilk! You don’t have to knead the dough, either!
Just simple ingredients to stir together and make moist strawberry scones that you will love!
Strawberry Scones Recipe
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Yields: 8 Scones
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 8 tablespoons butter, cubed
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1 ¼ cup diced strawberries
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and brown sugar.
Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until well incorporated.
In a small mixing bowl whisk together egg and heavy cream.
Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until almost incorporated.
Fold in strawberries until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Transfer mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and press into a circle roughly 1 ½ inch thick.
With a sharp knife score the dough into 8 pieces and brush the top of scones with heavy cream.
Bake for 20 min or until golden brown.
When scones come out of the oven separate them on a baking tray to cool.
For the icing, whisk powdered sugar and heavy cream until well incorporated.
Drizzle cooled scones with glaze.
How to Store: These homemade scones can be stored in an air-tight container for up to 3 days. They do not need to be refrigerated.
