This recipe makes one 5.5 ounce cocktail (without ice).

Ingredients

  • 2 Ounces Vodka
  • 1 Ounce Sweet and Sour Mix
  • 1 Ounce Blue Curacao
  • 1 Ounce Cranberry Juice
  • ½ Ounce Grenadine
  • Ice (optional)
  • Simple Syrup or Light Corn Syrup (optional garnish)
  • Purple Sanding Sugar (optional garnish)
  • Maraschino Cherries (optional garnish)

Directions

Add the vodka, sweet & sour mix, blue curacao, cranberry juice, and grenadine to a cocktail shaker. Add ice now if you are not going to add ice in the cup. Stir for a few seconds.

Place some light corn syrup on a small plate and on a separate small plate, place a small pile of purple sanding sugar.

Dip the rim of the glass in the syrup, pick up the glass and hold it over the plate and let the excess drip off.

Now dip the rim in the purple sugar until it is coated evenly all the way around.

Gently fill the cup with ice if desired. This will fill up the glass more and allow you to put a plastic spider on top, however this part can be skipped if you don’t want to water down the cocktail.

Strain the cocktail into the glass.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry, a plastic spider, and a purple straw, if you’d like.

Helpful Tips and Tricks

  • Don’t mix a big batch of this drink in advance. It tastes best when served immediately upon mixing.
  • You can use cocktail cranberry juice or grape juice in place of the cranberry juice, if desired.
  • You can use simple syrup instead of the corn syrup. You want a clear syrup, so either one will work.
  • If you don’t want to serve this Halloween cocktail on the rocks, then add some ice to the cocktail shaker when mixing. This will chill it, but not leave ice in your cup to water it down.
  • Add a sprinkle of grape Kool-Aid to your drink to make it pop with flavor!
  • Barely dip the rim of the glass in sugar! Otherwise you will have a thick and gloppy mess and the sugar will start running down the glass!
