Peppermint Bark Oreos Recipe
- Yields: 24 cookies
- Prep time: 30 minutes
- Cook time: None
Ingredients
- 24 Oreo Cookies or store-brand chocolate sandwich-creme cookies (such as Walmart)
- 8 ounces white chocolate, coarsely chopped (either Ghiradellhi White Chocolate Melting Wafers or White Chocolate Chips)
- 1/4 cup candy cane pieces (about 4 full-size candy canes)
Directions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
In a microwave safe bowl, follow the directions for melting the white chocolate. In general, you will want to microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds, stir, and then heat another 30 seconds and stir. Then heat in 15 second intervals, stirring in-between.
Dip each cookie half way into the white chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
Place the white chocolate dipped Oreo on the baking sheet.
Immediately cover the chocolate with candy cane pieces.
Allow to dry and harden completely, about 30 minutes. No need to refrigerate.
Helpful Tips
- Crush candy canes into smaller pieces. You can do this by placing the candy cane in-between two pieces of waxed paper and rolling with a rolling pin or tapping with a hammer or meat cleaver.
- Four full-size candy canes will yield around 1/4 cup crushed candy cane pieces.
- Starlight mints can also be used and crushed.
- Milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate can be substituted for white chocolate.
- Make this recipe gluten-free when you use Gluten-Free Chocolate Creme Sandwich Cookies.
