Granny Square Sunflowers

This tutorial will show you how to make a variation of a granny square with a sunflower in the center.

It is a great substitute for traditional granny squares in blankets, afghans and other crochet patterns.

MATERIALS NEEDED

– Crochet yarn  – Crochet hook 3.5mm – Scissors – Tapestry needle

STEP 1

Using the yarn color for center of the crochet sunflower, tie a slip knot without cutting the yarn from the bundle.

STEP 2

Form a ring with the chain by working a slip stitch into the first chain stitch.

STEP 3

Work 1 chain stitch.

STEP 4

Start working double crochet through the base ring.

STEP 5

Work a total of 12 DC (double crochet) into the base ring. Work a slip stitch through the first top chain stitch to close the center part.
